The ANTIPODEAN LOVE painting and how the idea came about... It is inspired by the influence American painting has had on me. The idea that I should exhibit in NY also evoked childhood memories like Robert Indiana's LOVE poster hanging in my room and the fact that I did not go to church on Sundays, but instead went to the Australian National gallery and spent the morning studying Jackson's & Blue Poles

LIGHT IS BLISS IN THE HEART AND SOUL This work underlines the importance of looking towards the light and away from the darkness in the world; especially in the current context. The works with bright stripes and goldleaf butterflies came about as an expression of what is in my heart. The thing that moves me most is colour and the idea that all colours can work together; and their power to express and evoke feeling. The goldleaf butterflies symbolise beauty and purity of light: Robin Louise Smith
